Team Leader – Ocean Operations

Post: Team Leader – Ocean Operations

Business Unit: Logistics

Contract Type: Full Type Permanent with six (6) months’ probation

Reports to: Ocean Sales & Operations Executive

Job Purpose: Responsible for providing high level of support and supervision to ocean import and export department by managing the daily activities of the ocean operations team.

Country: Mauritius

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure outstanding service to ocean import export team by training, coaching and managing associates within team, overseeing workflow and work prioritization and by communicating directly with team
  • Resolve workflow and special processing issues by maximizing productivity and resource allocation and by analyzing problems and communicating ideas and solutions to other supervisors and managers
  • Keep internal and external customers updated in regard to the arrival of shipments, any delays of their cargo, and when their shipments are available for pick up and/or delivery.
  • Initiate and maintain customer master profiles in order to have correct information on hand in order to offer consistent service.
  • Maintain close liaison with the port authorities and other government agencies for various requirements.
  • Communicating information and instructions to/from suppliers.
  • Researching and resolving operational problems.
  • Review all documents, contact all first-time customers, perform credit checks, and handle other tasks as needed.

 

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Delivery on Time

  • Order picking accuracy

Qualifications & Experience:

  • H.S.C with minimum 5 years’ experience in similar position preferably in a freight forwarding company.
  • High proficiency in both English and French
  • Able to manage own workload, set and meet deadlines and operate independently with minimum levels of supervision

Human Resources Officer

Reports to: Manager – Corporate Services

Job Purpose: To provide general day-to-day HR support across the group in compliance with statutory obligations and best practices not limited to leave and attendance management, employee benefits, training and development and other administration duties.

Country: Mauritius

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assisting the Manager - Corporate Services with generalist HR matters, including reviewing and developing relevant policies and procedures and advice in relation to employee performance, conduct and absence management.
  • Administration, co-ordination and support of the group's recruitment.
  • Coordinating and administering training and development programmes and liaising with external training bodies as required.
  • Providing confidential ad hoc advice and assistance to employees within the group.
  • Assisting with preparations for disciplinary and grievance hearings as necessary

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resource Management or any related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years work experience in Human Resources.

Shipping and Boarding Officer

Post: Shipping and Boarding Officer

Business Unit: Shipping

Contract Type: Full Type Permanent with six (6) months’ probation

Reports to: Regional Manager - Celero Shipping

Job Purpose: Supporting shipping agency and bunkering activities to achieve its objectives in line with quality standards and policies.

Country: Mauritius

Key Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate and update all parties concerned, of latest movement or change of vessel position prior to, and during, vessel arrival/departure.
  • Work with Principals, terminal operators, stevedores, port authorities, government officials and other parties to ensure safe and efficient practices and methods.
  • Orientation and familiarization of principals to various characteristics of the port area, terminals, etc.
  • Arrange all Port services necessary for vessel operation, exercising discretionary judgment to contract with local vendors as appropriate.
  • Responsible for communications between owners/operators and/or charterers of vessel.
  • Maintain communication with local authorities, pilots, terminal operators, tug boat companies, port authorities, stevedores, etc., in order to ensure a smooth and safe operation during a vessel call.
  • Act as a liaison between the Ship Master/crew with parties mentioned above.
  • Closing of vessel files in conjunction with the Principal’s instructions and company quality guidelines.
  • Setup vessel files and create appointment numbers prior to arrival and/or communication to ensure safe and smooth operation of voyage.
  • Prepare or secure various forms and documents required by local authorities.
  • Prepare or secure cargo documentation including but not limited Cargo manifest and Bills of Lading.
  • Coordinate crew changes as requested by our customers to include transportation arrangements, hotel reservations, flight bookings, helicopter clearance and immigration clearance.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • H.S.C with minimum 2 years’ experience in similar position.
  • High proficiency in both English and French
  • Intermediate level usage of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Able to manage own workload, set and meet deadlines and operate independently with minimum levels of supervision

Other Requisites & Skills:

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Maintain excellent customer service
  • Be willing to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Basic computer knowledge with good typing skills for data entry
